RED International's partner in India is Operation Mercy India Foundation (OMIF)  they have teams working among the poorest of the poor in the urban slums and rural villages bringing education, healthcare and vocational training to some of India's most marginalized people.

A major issue in India is the emancipation and empowerment of the 250 Million Dalits formerly known as Untouchables. The national leadership of Dalit movement are campaigning for basic rights and education for their people and have requested help form different groups.

OMIF is one of the groups working with the Dalit leadership at a national and local level to build and staff Dalit Education Centers in locations designated by the Dalit leaders to provide a quality primary education in English.

The Dalit Education Centers are also becoming a focus for both healthcare, vocational training and women's self-help groups.
